Pittsburgh, PA | May 1, 2017 – Excitement over THE JULIANA THEORY reuniting for their 20th anniversary tour has been deafening - with fans elated over the news that the band is returning to the stage after a 7 year absence and salivating at the first glimpse of the exclusive vinyl re-issue of the band’s cult-classic record, Emotion Is Dead, only available via the tour VIP ticket package. In a recent interview with lead singer Brett Detar, Billboard remarked on how well “Emo’s Pop Masterpiece” has aged, “Emotion is a sonic cousin of Jimmy Eat World’s 1999 touchstone Clarity -- a wildly ambitious punk record that breaks up its breakdowns and gang vocals with drum machines, electronic interludes and a two-song, psychedelic tour de force in its final 15 minutes.”
Today, more fans of The Juliana Theory will be able to catch a performance as the band has announced a second round of dates for their 20th anniversary tour. Taking the band through parts of the Mid-West and most of California, the 20 date routing will surely help the band get their sea-legs ready for the Warped Tour Rewind Cruise in October. What will happen with The Juliana Theory after this run, only time will tell, but for now the band is just excited to be celebrating this milestone together and with their fans. “You step away from something for seven years and you realize you miss the small stuff - all the joking around with your buddies. Even just the band text chain that started once we decided to do this tour - full of us all making fun of each other and kidding around - that kind of stuff,” explains Detar. Adding, “It's hard to quantify the relationship you have when you're in a band with people you've known forever - some since you were 5 or 6 years old. You literally grow up with these guys. Every failure and every success you share for so long and I think that forms a very deep bond that doesn't really diminish over time.”

It’s fitting that while in the midst of an emo resurgence, genre pioneers THE JULIANA THEORY are celebrating their 20th anniversary. The Steel City gents were ahead of the curve with their groundbreaking indie-emo-pop fusion, igniting frenzy in their underground scene and influencing bands for years to come. From their first album, cult classic,Understand This Is A Dream, The Juliana Theory quickly evolved and sharpened their sound to deliver 2000's genre-defining and genre-transcending, Emotion Is Dead. Their strong, hook-laden songwriting, spirited live shows, and dedicated fanbase attracted the attention of Epic/Sony where they released their third studio album, Love. Always maintaining an incessant touring schedule the band made their final album before breaking up in 2006.
In 2010 the band got back together for a short reunion run in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Emotion Is Dead, but otherwise have been completely quiet. Fast forward seven years to 2017 and an offer to play Warped Tour Rewind at Sea, an emo/pop-punk lovers dream cruise stacked with artists including Good Charlotte, Cartel, Simple Plan, Mayday Parade and more, The Juliana Theory decided to return to the stage once again for a 20th anniversary tour hitting select cities.
