Holiday Fun! Interview with Country Star Jaclyn Kenyon

Santa and Hanukkah Harry: So have you been good this year? Now be honest we do have our list.

Jaclyn Kenyon : Haha! I think so, other then all those donuts and sweets I’ve eaten this year . Oops.

S/HH: You had set out at the first of 2019 to accomplish certain things for your music. Hows that been going?

Jaclyn Kenyon: Yes I did! I ended up signing a Distribution deal with Sony Orchard , releasing 2 new singles off my record “When We Love” & “ Mama Said” , I’ve played a ton of shows and have been writing a lot of music. I’m excited to see what the New year will bring !

S/HH: Enough shop talk. Let's get into the holiday mood. Favorite holiday movie?

Jaclyn Kenyon: Oh no. It’s hard to ask me this question because now I have to decide between “Elf” & my family’s traditional Christmas movie “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” . Humm.. If I had to pick one I would have to say Elf because I know all the lines in that movie and I feel so much more excited for Christmas every time I watch it

S/HH: Do you have a particular food or dish that you like to consume or fix and bring to a gathering? Feel free to share your recipe.

Jaclyn Kenyon: Oh ya! Im crazy when it comes to food. I love food. Some of the dishes I love to make are my families traditional “Mocha Balls” have you heard of them? Chocolate , nuts & icing sugar on top of this tiny little ball of goodness lol. Go search these things you won’t be sorry. Every year for Christmas we also do this melt in your mouth shortbread. My Grandma makes it every year & I've tried to repeat her recipe but I’ve never got it just right.

S/HH: What are some of your favorite holiday memories?

Jaclyn Kenyon: On Christmas Eve my whole family would go over to my Grandparents home and have a big dinner. After dinner we would sit downstairs and have dessert by the fire and my grandma would tell all the kids to grab the gifts from the other room and bring them under the tree. We would anxiously wait until everyone was done dinner to open our presents. Every year someone in our family would buy matching PJ’s for me , my brother & cousins. We would hear a knock on the door and when we looked outside we would see Santa left some bags in the snow with glitter all around them. We would bring them inside & open the bags together. The PJ’s would be so cold from being outside when we put them on , we would all lie down beside the fire. Before we left at night my grandpa would show us Rudolph outside. We would stand in the kitchen window turn off all the lights and see if we could spot Rudolph together.

S/HH: Holiday traditions?

Jaclyn Kenyon : On Christmas Day my uncle comes over and brings us a gift in a big Santa bag. He also makes a bomb cheese ball and homemade party mix. We usually call our grandparents every year to tell them what Santa brought after we open our gifts and my parents usually make a nice big Christmas Day breakfast. Recently we have started going to the “Toronto Christmas Market” around Christmas as well! That may be a new tradition it’s been 2 years in a row so far !

S/HH: Lets test your knowledge. How many reindeer are there and what are their names?

Jaclyn Kenyon: Okay here we go ..

And do you recall the most famous reindeer of all......

S/HH: Hannukah is also known as the "?"
Jaclyn Kenyon : Festival of Lights

S/HH: Are you into snow sports during the winter months or if you are down under summer sports during the winter months? What are they?

Jaclyn Kenyon : I’m into summer sports during the winter months. I can’t really get into winter sports! I’ve tried skiing and failed .. but winter activities ...I do like skating & tobogganing and making things out of snow!

S/HH: Weirdest kiss you ever gave or received under the mistletoe was with who?

Jaclyn Kenyon: You want the real answer? I never had a kiss under the mistletoe until I dated my boyfriend and he took a random mistletoe from somewhere and made us kiss under it LOL. So now I can say .. I have!

S/HH: Eggnog?

Jaclyn Kenyon : I actually don’t like eggnog on its own. It’s a very acquired taste. I do like it in the Eggnog lattes though at Starbucks !

S/HH: If you could give the world one gift that would last a lifetime what would you give?

Jaclyn Kenyon: The gift of receiving Jesus in their heart because that will last a lifetime.
