Santa and Hanukkah Harry: So have you been good this year? Now be honest we do have our list.
Firstly, I've been good AF.
Secondly, I seriously believe in Santa so you can call it societal marketing construct all you want! But I'm a goddamn believer : )
S/HH: You had set out at the first of 2019 to accomplish certain things for your music. How's that been going?
In 2019, I wanted to make my next album, build a team, get on tour and get a proper band. Today, the new album I Just Wanna Love You, I Just Wanna Let You is set to release on Valentine's Day 2020, we got a music video out and another to come, an east coast tour in April and I have such a great group of people I work with from studio to shows. 2019 done me right and I pretty much love my life right now.
S/HH: Enough shop talk. Let's get into the holiday mood. Favorite holiday movie?
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. That and A Christmas Story. I love these. I must watch. Every year. SO GOOD!
S/HH: Do you have a particular food or dish that you like to consume or fix and bring to a gathering? Feel free to share your recipe.
My family, my mom and I have made "CRABBIES" since I was a kid. Her mom's recipe.
Crabbies: English muffins, cheese whiz, bit of mayo, garlic powder, and imitation crab meat. It all gets baked up, and quartered. THESE ARE LIFE BLOOD AT HOLIDAY TIME.
At Thanksgiving this year my brother was on a temporary diet challenge that didn't allow him to eat crabbies. He said, "If we don't have crabbies at Christmas, I'm going to set fire to the house." hahah This is serious shit. Crabbies don't just serve, they save.
S/HH: What are some of your favorite holiday memories?
My favorite holiday memories are on these old VHS videos of me as a baby, my older brother and sister and mom and dad, as Christmas. I love watching us all be young little versions of ourselves. SO MUCH CRYING. I love my family very much. I think there isn't any one holiday day that I remember, or love most. I think its the feeling of being loved unconditionally that I remember every season and every time I think about the holidays growing up.
Now that I'm grown, I see my family different and holidays different, but I'm still the luckiest kid in the world to have the family I do. And every Christmas is a reconvening of this notion and powerful feeling.
S/HH: Holiday traditions?
Crabbies. Picking names out of the hat on Thanksgiving, for who buys who gifts at Christmas. One year my brother put all the names in the hat, but wrote his name on all the tickets, so everyone thought they had him in the grab. It was awesome. But he felt bad and couldn't go through with it all the way.
S/HH: Let's test your knowledge. How many reindeer are there and what are their names?
Eight reindeer! Happy, Larry, Moe, Curly, Grumpy, Sexy, Donner & Prancer
S/HH: Hannukah is also known as the "?"
I have NO idea of Hannukah's AKA. But I'd love to know.
S/HH: Are you into snow sports during the winter months or if you are down under summer sports during the winter months? What are they?
I am not into winter sports unless you count sleeping and cuddling.
S/HH: Weirdest kiss you ever gave or received under the mistletoe was with who?
I have no mistletoe kissing stories, but I may or may not have drunkenly mistook some poisonous berries for mistletoe during a holiday break.
Dairy + Baking utilities + Alcohol = Wrong.
Also, really gross when it comes back up.
S/HH: If you could give the world one gift that would last a lifetime what would you give?
Ray Charles (again) & World Peace. In that order.
S/HH: Favorite holiday song?
Nat King Cole's "Silent Night"
S/HH: Do you have a song by you and your band? Would you please share where we can hear it?
"Madman" is out now on all platforms, here is a spotify link!
But you can also find the Official Music Video on Youtube
Or stream it on Amazon & Apple Music.
S/HH: What would you like to say in this final holiday chat to your fans?
Katie Burke (KB & The Idyllwilde):
Happy Holidays!!!!!! And please use the holiday time wisely-- spend time with people you love! If you can, stop being a doer for just a week! There is a time old classic filled with wisdom, we can remember during the holiday season:
“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
