Up Close & Personal with Sam Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet

The land of Michigan has given the world a deluge of multiple necessities and sheer pleasures outside of what at one time was the auto industry mecca. Like its heart and soul of the blue collared working person that breeds an indelible, almost pioneer spirit, the music from here reflects its surroundings as once again this 26th state, added to the Union in January of 1837, is having a rebirth. The possibility of this land known warmly for its industrial explosion in the region of the Great Lakes is now standing at possibly a new dawn... the creation of being a strong contender for the music scene, much like Nashville is today.

With this in mind, the resonating rock and blues plus more yet to be revealed have begun with the band, Greta Van Fleet. They are poised and ready to bring the elements of rock n' roll up to the next level.

Review of Pride Before the Fall by Iron Age Mystics

Founded in 2010, Canada’s Iron Age Mystics plays hard rock that the band describes as spiced “with punk, funk, and fun.” The band’s full-length studio CD, collectively titled Pride Before the Fall, lives up to the band’s description. It’s obvious that this band walks its own path, wearing its political ideology with pride with frontman Kevin Connelly’s lyrics right up front, but there’s more to this band than its political beliefs. For one, get ready to get down with some catchy yet hardened rock and roll, and approach that is accessible yet fresh and cool. And second, the band is not releasing Pride Before the Fall in the usual way. For a debut, the band is releasing it as four EPs with the following dates: EP 1 already out as February 19, EP 2 slated for March 20, EP 3 scheduled for April 22, and EP 4 unleashed on May 19.

Talk about how music has influenced you each individually in your daily living.
Nick Hade - Music has been every memory I've had trapped within sound, encased in the mind. Music has been there for every moment and can bring me back to that time and has acted as the theme to every piece of my life. It motivates me at work or allows me to slow down time and breathe life in the moment. David Cardenas: I feel music is everything, it can conjure a smile, a mood, a memory, a tear.
